On September 19, 2025 (Friday), the Kukkiwon held its presidential election, a significant event for the global Taekwondo community.
We are pleased to announce that Grandmaster Yun Ungsuk (์ค์ ์), former director of the Kukkiwon, has been elected as the 18th President of Kukkiwon.
Grandmaster Yun secured 737 votes, placing ahead of:
โข Candidate #1: Ahn Yong-gyu โ 544 votes
โข Candidate #3: Nam Seung-hyun โ 280 votes
With this decisive result, Grandmaster Yun begins his three-year term from October 7, 2025, to October 6, 2028.
As the new President, Grandmaster Yun carries the responsibility of guiding Kukkiwon into its next chapter, further strengthening its role as the global headquarters of Taekwondo. His leadership is expected to bring fresh vision, unity, and continued development for practitioners worldwide.
